The Astor Piazzolla Foundation was created in 1995 on the initiative of Laura Escalada Piazzolla, wife of the famous musician and composer, in order to promote culture and arts, particularly music, giving prominence to the dissemination, study and teaching of Master Astor Piazzolla's work.
Over the years, outstanding activities and projects were developed through partnerships with public sector organizations and private sector institutions that shaped the proposal of the Astor Piazzolla Foundation. Since its inception, the challenge of the organization has been to contribute to the valuation of the culture and artistic expressions that constitute the national identity. A summary of the most important milestones of the Foundation highlights the following events:

Laura Escalada Piazzolla
After Astor Piazzolla's departure in 1992, Laura Escalada Piazzolla created the Foundation that bears the Maestro's name.
In 1998, with the intention of promoting and keeping alive the musical legacy of the great Argentine composer, she selected the most representative ensemble of his history and created the "Quinteto de la Fundación Piazzolla".
As an expression of his genial and innovative spirit, excellent musicians have passed through the group and have moved audiences all over the world with their interpretations. Today, five of its highest exponents, now members of the "Quinteto Revolucionario", winner of the Latin Grammy 2019, redouble their commitment and give free rein to their impeccable interpretations in their album "100 AÑOS" as a tribute to the centenary of the birth of their admired "Astor". Indeed, Sergio Rivas on double bass, Cristian Zárate on piano, Sebastián Prusak on violin, Esteban Falabella on guitar and Lautaro Greco on bandoneon, are the most complete expression of the passion, originality and magic of Piazzolla's spirit. The Astor Piazzolla Foundation gives its express support and recognition to these excellent musicians.
